I’ve been following Palestine protests for a long time. I could be wrong, but this feels different. Protests in Italy are big and numerous. General strike already declared for Friday. Loads of protests planned in the UK. Spain, Greece, Germany, Belgium, Sweden either already happening or planned.

All countries that recently recognised the state of Palestine have publicly declared recognising Gaza as part of Palestine. This means that, legally, they must recognise that Israel kidnapped/ is kidnapping their own citizens in international waters while they were / are trying to reach Palestine.

It is safe to feel anger. Realistically it may or may not always be safe to express anger in every setting-- but FEELING anger, or anything else, was never the problem. It does not make you "bad." It does not make you violent. It does not make you an abuser.

I'll spoil the suspense: you & I are flawed. We're not perfect. We don't do or say the "right" thing at all times. And also: the fact we're flawed was NOT the reason the people who should have been there for us weren't; OR why we were abused; OR the reason trauma happened to us.

The US 20-point-plan is awful even as an early draft. The surprisingly positive welcome it received (e.g. in al-Jazeera) is due to the fact that (1) there's a genocide going on and the top priorities are stopping the killing, getting aid in (2) no-one reads it as more than a starting point

Leaders and officials who have been dragging their feet on sanctions against Israel, are now using Trump's "plan"'s as an excuse for further delays. Civilians are still slaughtered. The only way to concentrate the minds of all involved is through credible move towards sanctions.

Support for Israel is evaporating fast in literally every political constituency. Giving cover for a genocide is not going to become more popular. And finally Arab and Muslim states are showing signs they can mobilise effectively to lobby the WH. Will all this be enough? I don't know.

The bottom line is this: the chances of ending this war and stopping the genocide are higher, and this is due entirely to international pressure - on the US and on Israel. Donald Trump is nobody's saviour. The only way to make it stop is to increase pressure,sanctions, and mobilisation.
