If the estimates were right, there were about 9 million people at No Kings rallies today. That would mean this protest was THIRTY TIMES AS LARGE AS THE TEA PARTY PROTEST which we were told, over and over again, was a massively important sign that US politics had shifted dramatically to the right

As someone in biotech, I’m stunned by the lack of more public response, especially given our academic collaborations, academic founders, academic Science Advisory Board members, and academic database/tool usage. Many colleagues are concerned and upset, but it doesn’t seem to translate to anything.

Columbia President with NEW details: 5 DHS agents entered a residency with no warrant. They said they were police looking for a missing kid. Security camera even captures them showing pictures of the "kid." A campus officer asked for a warrant & their boss. They ignored him & took the student.

Yes, the top-line budget numbers are (nearly) flat. I can assure you that does not mean that the state of science is sound. That is already a low bar for success. And, if last year is a guide, we should not expect that federal agencies will use $$$-s as intended:

The cure for ignorance is not information. It's humility and curiosity. Facts can be easily dismissed. What motivates people to gain insight is recognizing gaps in their understanding and wanting to find out more. The root of lifelong learning is knowing how little we know.
