FWIW, your Future Class is still recorded across many gamesindustry sites, if you wish to link it on your socials. You have a right to that win even if it didn't give much back. Not much to add, but I hope as an industry we can really do better and not relying on burned out folks to do it all.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

I was a member of TGA Future Class 2022 and lemmee tell ya, my skin has been crawling since pretty much every interaction I had with them (few) & story I heard about other members' interactions with them (many) was bad. & by bad I mean, so many shades of being used as photo op tokens & nothing more

perhaps the most egregious thing that happened with the Future Class was when The Game Awards took money from Old Spice in the name of the FC & simply... pocketed it it wasn't used to fund Future Class initiatives, it wasn't used to help lift marginalised developers they just profited from us

I don't think your collective hearts can handle hearing about all the games that got cancelled, or not even greenlit past the initial pitch stage. There is so much good stuff there. Often cool games can get canned for complicated and sometimes even very good, sensible reasons.

same for artists. no artist is burnt out because their workload would be less with AI or their project managing software could be assisted by AI. we’re burnt out because our work is not respected enough. what we do is seen as disposable and replaceable, rather than valuable.
