This is nonsensical. Libraries buy huge numbers of books you wouldn't otherwise sell. They're a massive discoverability vector for authors. The reasons behind the declining author earnings are not hard to guess. People read less, have less $ to spend, +media is being consolidated by megacorporations

Has the Author's Guild considered the fact that authors aren't making as much money because publishers are fucking them over? What is the point of attacking libraries?

If you work in the for-profit book industry, like I do as a bookstore owner, and you think libraries are your enemy, you're a fool. An utter buffoon. A real ding-dong. A nincompoop. A cad. A jaggoff. A dim bulb. A pea brain. Not so good at assessing the world and your place within it. A blunt tool.

If you blame libraries, you are wrong, full stop. Take up your issues with publishing companies - as always, e.g. books, movies, music.

Authors blaming libraries for lower pay gives off real "let's you and him fight" energy. The real reason authors don't get paid what they're worth is an exploitative system created by corporate consolidation among publishers, distributors, and retailers.

The AG is wrong. Protect libraries as the public good that they are. Licensing to libraries is already onerous for the libraries. Libraries are no enemy here.
