I'm cataloging a zine made for a seminar on borders and migration. The author brings up Japanese internment, which was a staggering injustice that was inadequately addressed & recompensed, and I think about everything that's coming, and I want to fight back, but I also kind of want to self harm

I don't want to denigrate Stephen's work in any way, but I think it was more first than most influential. I wouldn't say that *any* piece of scholarship on zines is the most important. Most important isn't how zines work. Publications since then have better centered non-white male zinesters.

My takeaway from a non-union AAUP meeting: colleges are not democratic institutions. We may have an expectation (hope?) for senior admin and the board of trustees to execute the will of the vast majority of the faculty, students, and staff, but there's no guarantee. They can do whatever they want.
