So many #BikeHFX folks showed up for the I Light Halifax ride tonight. The marshals did a fantastic job keeping everyone safe. The organizers pulled off a great event. Thanks @cyclehalifax.ca and everyone that made this happen!

The “E-Bike Effect:” Those who bought e-bikes increased their average daily bicycle use from 2.1km (1.3 miles) to 9.2km (5.7 miles), a 340% increase. The e-bike share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%. E-bikes support fewer car trips. V @lloydalter.bsky.social

Fascinating study. Note that this is 1 in 10 adults. Factor in children and the percentage of non-driving Americans is much higher. Cities and towns need to account for their mobility needs too.

A 🧵 of my reflections on #KidicalMassHfx. In 2022 (our first season) our Dartmouth ride had ~12 participants. In 2023 we had 76, and in 2024 we had 90. Yesterday, 130 people rode bikes with us in Dartmouth, in support of our kids safety and independence in their communities. 1/6

Some seriously big energy at #KidicalMass from the #BikeHfx crew today! Today was a strong reminder that society undermines the strength of our kids. These kids WANT TO MOVE! But we limit them so aggressively through poor policy & design decisions. Grateful for the organizers & marshalls!

We had a blast at #KidicalMassHFX this morning. There were bubbles! There were tunes! I got to borrow a cargo bike from Halifax Cycles for demos and to carry Wee Raccoon across the harbour. Thank you to everyone that makes this happen!

And it was both of these things! Around 130 kids & their families enjoying some time together on bikes on a Sunday morning never fails to lift my spirits. #KidicalMassHFX is the best way to feel some #BikeJoy
