Any #BikeHFX folks interested in some barely-used studded tires? 26x1.75 Schwalbe Active Winter bike tires. Used them on a mountain bike that I planned to use as a winter bike, but I didn’t like the frame and only rode it a couple of times. Stored in my shed since, oh gosh, 2018? Pics in a min.

Had a wonderful problem to solve today: how to get home with Rex on the bike without passing (and therefore having to stop and play at) any parks. Almost made it.

We are at the convenient age when I know that Rex is up to something because he goes, “Mom, mom, mommy…leave me alone!” 😂

Wilfred is our porch skeleton. He hangs out on our porch Sept through Novemberish, and sometimes returns for other holidays. He’s been a buddy of both our kids since they were babies. Here he is riding our old Babboe cargo bike.

I can’t pick which is my favourite post about today’s I-Can’t-Believe-It’s-Not-the-Mayor’s-Annual-Bike-Ride. Going with this one. 💜 As our mayor continues to be a coward and dodge constituents, #bikehfx continues to rise the occasion with humour and #bikejoy. Y’all are legends.

On bad ankle pain days, like the ones I’m having lately, I’m reminded that my ebike makes the difference for me between getting out of the house, greeting folks on the trail, patronizing a local business and just not doing anything of those things. Ebikes are mobility aids!

Feeling particularly stung by the “other people should suffer nobly” narrative. Recently, I heard a sermon in which MAID was discouraged because it’s virtuous to suffer until God decides to take you. Now this nonsense that women shouldn’t take Tylenol during a long and often painful stage of life.

Vaccines don’t cause autism. Tylenol doesn’t cause autism. Autism isn’t worse than death by preventable disease, anyway. Women deserve pain relief. FFS.

May we all love something with the enthusiasm of wee Rex who is accosting random children at this park to enthuse about “Pachycephalosaurus, the strongest dinosaur in the world!” (And may we, and Rex, learn when people don’t want to hear about it anymore. 💀)

We can’t afford *not* to have cargo bikes. 😂

One bakfiets cargo bike, one sturdy ebike with child seat, a plethora of acoustic bikes of various sizes, our family of 2 adults and 2 children barely drives our car. (Which is good, because 2 weeks after we put $800 into fixing our car another part broke so it’s back in the shop!)

This morning I walked the kids to school and saw: twelve kids riding their bikes, three kids on scooters (one electric), one parent dropping off two kids on an electric cargo bike, and two parents dropping off single kids on acoustic bikes with extra seats. All in all a very good morning! #bikehfx

Such a beautiful, encouraging thread. Being part of #KidicalMassHfx is such an encouraging and restorative part of our lives right now, in the midst of little kid chaos and dire political news. I left yesterday buzzing with #bikejoy and hope after chatting with families about cargo bike life.

I feel it says something about us here as a group that the thread with the single greatest longevity I’ve ever been involved with was “for the love of god, stop breastfeeding rabies vectors.”

FB people: Woe! The dilapidated buildings on the corner of Coburg & Robie are being torn down and high rise apts are being built there. Now no one will travel across the world to take pictures of these crumbling buildings! Why can’t we build somewhere that can accommodate density “more gracefully?”

All of the above. I’ve picked my bike to the racks at two different Sobeys stores in Halifax in the last couple weeks, only to find that in both cases the racks were not secured to the ground. (Windsor and Mumford.)

At Long & McQuade yesterday, while waiting for violin rental to finalize, Pebble spotted bagpipes displayed on the wall. P: MOM! This is the best day ever! This was my wish! Me: 😬 To play the bagpipes? P: To SEE the bagpipes! I GOT MY WISH!

It’s also hilarious that the CAA membership I got in case we had a cargo bike issue is coming in handy for our hatchback today. 😂
