My dad has turned up this photo from a visit "many years ago" to the Forth Bridge. I think it's taken from what he calls the howff, just below track level, used by the maintenance workers. I guess when you're engaged in a proverbially endless task, you need a wee cup of tea once in a while.

Sunflower in Belfast, great little corner pub with 1 handpump serving local Boundary Pale Ale on our afternoon visit. Yard outside with pizza van. Came back in the evening for the Manouche gypsy swing band followed by folk club upstairs.

The Globe Hotel on Bernard Street dated back to at least 1846. The area around the hotel changed a lot over the years through slum clearances and wartime bombing, but the hotel survived it all. It finally closed down in 1988 and the Grade II listed building is now apartments.
