In the early '90s my school had an obsession with boys' hair length. This photo was presumably the nightmare scenario they were trying to prevent.

Iโm not very good at self-promotion, but hereโs a repost for the Sunday readers out there ๐ Thereโs a claim that is being repeated more often of late that cyder was a different and superior drink to cider. In this long read (perfect with a cup of tea or a glass of cider) I debunk this modern myth.

Modern Myth-Busting: The Cyder Controversi
Barry debunks the myth that โcyderโ and โciderโ are different drinks, tracing the spelling history and enduring cultural heritage of cider.

Beginning to look to me like the only type of boiled beer is European commercial beer. I don't think any of the other continents boiled, and European farmhouse brewers largely didn't, either. So of course everyone concluded all beer must be boiled.

*puffs pipe* See, this is a pretty good simulacrum of Guinness, but there's no point making a good simulacrum of Guinness because Guinness drinkers drink Guinness because it's Guinness, not because of how it tastes. *taps ash out*

The absolute state of this. 'From the Heart of County Wexford' and 'A family tradition since 1905' implies to the consumer that it's brewed in that county and has been around that long. Theakston Brewery should be hanging their head in shame for these shenanigans, as that's where it's brewed ...

'The Wicklow Wolf Eclipse Stout and a glass of Moretti please.' I wait. 'We haven't got the Eclipse on, we have the O'Hara's nitro red.' 'Ah, okay. I'll have a Beamish.' 'But we've already pulled the O'Hara's!?' It's placed in front of me; I shrug ... Reader, I got my Beamish.
