It takes an enormous amount of courage to stand there, keep filming, and scream "What the fuck, you asshole" at someone wearing a badge who just shot and killed one of your neighbors in cold blood.

Last weekend, I retraced the steps of two of the most important moments in American (and Chicago) labor history, starting with the Haymarket Massacre. But the Haymarket Massacre wasnât just a tragedy. It still provides a compass for us to fight against fascism today:

Look at this graph. The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest. As unions have weakened, inequality has widened. This is why we must build back union power.

As I just said on CNN, my father's parents were Nakba survivors. I don't want Israeli children to live in fear and I don't want Palestinian children to starve to death. There is nothing anyone could do to make me put nationalistic talking points above basic human rights.

A relief to hear this said. Trump operates from the same untested, blustering ideas he had in the 80s. They werenât good then and even less so now. It would be great if BUSINESS LEADERS were prepared to say what they clearly know - that Trump only knows how to run a muscle racket. And here we are.

Commissioner Bedoya nails it in this statement. Trump and his attack dogs are trying to dismantle the administrative state to serve the billionaires backing him. If we're to maintain any semblance of democracy, this illegal firing of principled regulators must not stand.
