Up until right about now I have been chuckling whenever the craziness gets to this level of hyper-online meme-poisoned nonsense. Because it seems harmless and I want them to waste their energy, attempting to make cruelty the point, in pointless, hence harmless ways. But they are getting SO crazy.

It's a victory so long as Trump resists Iran's demand for a nuclear weapon in exchange for re-opening the Strait. Here's why that's bad for Joe Biden.

Given numbers are (apparently) abstracta, it's kinda tricky working out how math-stuff relates to, you know - stuff. To paraphrase Wittgenstein's early notebooks: given there could be logic, without a world, how can there be logic, given a world?

This story is insane. Married an American, arrested at her greencard interview, flown out of state, nearly killed multiple times when her diabetes was ignored and then mistreated. When she finally got out? Found out her credit card had been used illegally.

Jeremy Carl is not one of the worst people in the Trump orbit but this interview by Douthat is one of Douthat's more athletic attempts to help a radical guy out by going out of his way to whisper him into seemingly sensible moderate-ness. Douthat = anti-Chotiner.

We're in a situation in which Trump wants to look strong and competent and the only way to do that is to use the military, which is strong and competent, and then claim personal credit for so much strength and competence. Prideful foreign adventurism via premeditated stolen valor. Not great.

Old punk rockers age weakly. Got nothin left to say. Old art rockers are fine. Kim Gordon' new album is pretty good - not genius but solid. So I guess she's an artist.

This gets the origin wrong. This nickname dates only to the 80's. William 'the Fridge' Perry was nicknamed, after that nickname, 'the Moveable Feast' - i.e. a large but mobile container of much food. And so championship Bears-era Chicago became 'Paris on da Prairie' via Fitzgerald novel title.

Full of insane-making moments but I understand why Klein didn’t push harder. Caldwell poses as detached but is bought into a view of the deep state he concedes is ‘occult’. I guess it’s detached that he sees that?

I like Moyn (I realise a lot of folks around here don't.) But I do not understand this post. The argument seems to be that because Bernick, Kreis & Shugerman are right in what they are saying, that makes it 'far less defensible' that they are saying it. Why?

And the real story is: why would Weiss care? CBS is a token in an oligarchic, elite favour-exchange system. Her boss is happy. They used to say: if you are getting it free, YOU'RE the product. Now it's more like: if they are overpaying for it, only to degrade the product, IT'S not the product.

The 'not a moral issue' response could do with clarification. It's hard to see how the death penalty could be not one. I guess people just say that if they are absolutely sure it is morally fine. I wish the survey had asked about atheism, agnosticism and not being Christian.
