Conservatives: the problem with liberals is that they donāt get what it means to be an American. Also conservatives: if you want to know what an American is like, picture an evil vampire chasing people out of America, which is a blood-drenched castle, if the Supreme Court does not nullify the 14A.

Even on the 4th of July, Vance canāt bring himself to express gratitude for the ideas and ideals - expressed in the Declaration - that have made 250 years of Americans possible. Sheesh, would a simple āthank youā to our better angels kill him?

Remember like last week when that guy said there are secret good arguments against the 19A, proving there are no liberal intellectuals (and no you canāt see the arguments she lives in Canada.) Yeah, now heās saying the 14A is empirically false. Also everyone knows it. No, heās not taking questions.

By itself, this is both impeachable and cause for radical reform. The GOP Supreme Court does not even bother to explain the majority of its decisions. It's apparently too much to ask they at least barf up dishonest, unprincipled, poorly-reasoned excuses for their arbitrary exercise of power.

Yeah, I think a lot about this because I've covered elections for so long. Even in 2018, an insurgent candidate needed the MSM in a way he/she doesn't now. A long, substantive Hasan stream does you much more good than a cable hit where you are asked the same 4 questions.

The explosion of MAGA rage at birthright citizenship ruling confirms again that MAGA is really a movement for ethnic cleansing. As we discuss on the pod, it's telling that sealed border and end to TPS/asylum don't sate MAGA. They want dramatic ethnic purges. Listen:

I will once again remind folks that a very sizable chunk of what looks like Congress not doing anything to push back against the president is in fact a consequence of the Court disabling/destroying all the ways Congress has tried to push back.

It's not just transparently outcome-driven, it's openly picking and choosing at the buffet of implications. You lay down a rule, to suit the Republican justices, AND you decide, by fiat, which implications of that rule, were it to be followed, shall follow.

And legally the SC is laboring to work out what you might call a doctrine of 'structural non-racism': even if no kidding these actual actors are actually openly seething with racial animus, if there's a possible world in which someone favours an analog policy for non-racist reasons it's not racism.

For years, the anti-immigrant go-to line was that they were anti *illegal* immigration, because they believed in rule of law and had compassion for immigrants who "did it the right way." Now, from the White House and Supreme Court on down, it's openly anti-rule-of-law and anti-nonwhite-immigration.

The Supreme Court ALSO gives Trump another pass on racism, declaring that his horrific and bigoted comments against Haitians are actually not evidence of racism and that the plaintiffs cannot show evidence of racial bias, essentially plugging their ears and letting Trump spew filth as policy.
