Utterly surreal to be just going to work, gaming, grabbing lunch, etc. amidst the backdrop of the country rapidly falling into fascist dictatorship but, well, here we are.

Finally got around to leveling my ally alt in WoW Mop so just today learned the codename for the Prince of Stormwind is... the White Pawn? Really? Not even a Bishop (he's a priest) or a Knight? Only the most expendable piece on the board? I'd run away too. 🤴

Take away all the costs (data centers, water consumption, money, etc) of AI and I still wouldn't use an LLM. It produces consistently wrong output. If we put that analogy into manufacturing, it's "I have to QA everything off of the line _without exception_ and I get frequent material waste anyway"

Ok, someone explain Duolingo's new "energy." Looks like it uses 1 per exercise, with +3 at checkpoints and +5 at end. Is that dependent on score? And how do I see how many exercises are in a lesson? It's not standardized? Did I miss an alert or everybody surprised like me?

I will never get over how a handful of tech bros set billions of dollars on fire to build a plagiarism machine that doesn't work and will destroy human society when they could have used a fraction of that money to fund a new golden age of creativity and knowledge.
