A memo was released by ICE instructing agents to violate the U.S. Constitution. ICE told officers and agents that they can forcibly enter homes without warrants signed by judges. The memo was from ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons, was shared with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) by two whistleblowers.

Recently I've been spending some time with pro-democracy leaders from other countries organizing against national strongmen. Their stories of organizing against authoritarians are eerily familiar. Among the many clear takeaways: stand up to bullies and go on offense because defense doesn’t win.

It is important to acknowledge who is standing up and who is just trying to get by. Every day Americans are standing up while the powerful are mostly standing by. Why aren't law firms standing up and sending lawyers to Minneapolis. Why aren't the corporations speaking out? Why isn't the media?

This is on you, Congress. Every single member of Congress who does not support impeachment, removal, and prosecution right now is complicit.

I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.

I know votes on legislative packages often involve cross-cutting considerations, and members of Congress will have to weigh those. But if I were a member of Congress, I don’t believe I could vote for any appropriation bill that funded DHS without requiring changes in ICE and CBP practices.
