Getting really tired of reading mystery/thrillers where the author has the murderer fake disability to deflect suspicion from their guilt. Not only is it lazy, cliché writing, but considering how often disabled people are disbelieved or framed as fakers IRL, it reinforces harmful perceptions.

For a v long time, I conflated "person who can make good art" with "person who has a functioning moral compass." I think that transference (based on appreciation, love, enthusiasm) is something a lot of us do. It hurts a lot when we find that our appreciation was hijacked so someone can do bad shit.
