A trans or disabled person gets pushed over, suffers a concussion Do you know how easy it would be for them to get institutionalized or just plain beaten instead of getting their concussion diagnosed or treated?

They mean well, but in the real world we actually live in their advice gets people killed, maimed, or institutionalized.

This kind of person will *see* someone's bloody nose, but totally fail to connect the concrete act of violence with the more abstract violence of the environment that encourages and enabled it.

They'll helpfully suggest getting cops involved, going to a doctor, suing someone. As if this is a thing the victims of hate crimes generally find accessible and safe. No possible risk there, totally doable.

If you describe being hate crimed, there is a specific kind of person who will try to help by offering solutions that all only really work for the people who commit hate crimes.

The reason why I'm so angry has a lot to do with the lives that will be lost — people are absolutely going to die as a direct result of Senate Democrats folding on health care. It also has a lot to do with the suffering that was endured — people were struggling to get by without food assistance. 🧵
