Today’s lesson in MAGA-speak: People helping neighbors = “domestic terrorists,” “the worst of the worst,” etc. ICE kidnappers, torturers, killers = “patriots,” “keeping us safe,” etc.

Two ICE-Gestapo killers have been placed on leave after lying under oath about a violent encounter they supposedly faced during their seige in Minneapolis. They face termination and criminal charges. Good, they aren’t agents, they are terrorists. They should all be sent to jail.

Imagine Obama doing this. And being in the Epstein Files. And being convicted of liability for sexual assault. And being on tape admitting engaging in sexual assault. And attempting to subvert an election he lost. And encouraging a mob to sack the US Capitol. And … well, you can’t.

One reason we must insist on defunding ICE is that we risk the establishment of an ICE-industrial complex that will, because of our nonexistent campaign finance laws (thanks, John Roberts), worm its way deep into our political system and be impossible to dislodge.

Lots that is grotesque here, but I think the key thing to notice is the zero-sum worldview: if we take in a 5yo immigrant, this somehow displaces or harms at 5yo American kid. There's a finite pool of "American" to distribute. A zero-sum worldview is the molten core of reactionary thinking.
