Imagine if a water pipe broke and the water department had to ask city council whether to fix it and then spend 12 months asking everyone on the street their opinion of how to fix it before they could start work. That's how cities manage curbs.

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act. Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.

I'm seeing a) assertions that no one has been thinking about the issues raised by these NG deployments and b) confident assertions about complicated legal issues. So a friendly reminder that we do have experts on domestic use of the U.S. military, and even they don't have clear answers! ⬇️

And the cult of SOF is a real problem given that, if we've seen one thing in Ukraine, it is that in a near-peer conflict, highly-trained, ultra-elite infantry cost a lot to form and field but get shredded by firepower at exactly the same rate, if not faster than, regular infantry.

Nature and the environment permeate the language viscerally. Irish predates English by a millennium. Its early writing system, Ogham, written vertically as a series of lines and strokes, has an alphabet based on trees. The Irish language is a joy.

The police were never going to protect you from fascism. They are literally designed to protect the wealth classes property, and catch slaves. That is their history. That is the reality of what police have always been they will not stop fascism as fascism has always been a part of their history.

Microsoft shoved their AI Copilot into everything in Windows 11. Which lead to an increase in Windows 10 use. So they announced they'd stop support for Windows 10, but its usage was still strong. So they started to put Copilot into Windows 10. Windows 7 use is surging 5x now. AI is product poison.
