My kitty Lilly Darling died on Tuesday. She was 15 and more than ready to go. My kitten Miri has been acting very different without Lilly. Lilly never wanted to be with Miri so she kept her distance, Miri keeps going to Lilly’s favorite spots sniffing around. She’s also a lot sleeping more. ❤️‍🩹

I lurk on FB maybe once every four months for a few mins. Today, my top recommended possible friend was the sister of the woman who ran the board and care home my mom was in for a month before dying. I didn’t even know her last name and I thought I had my privacy settings at the highest levels.

My mother passed tonight. She was a fighter to the end. Lupus, nerve damage, you name it, she never let anything keep her down.

If everything works out, this little girl is joining the family.

My mom is at the end. She can no longer swallow water and a nurse is visiting every twelve hours to give her phenobarbital so she doesn’t spend her remaining time terrified.

The problem with being the adult child trying to sort through your dead and dying parents’s house is every square inch of it is them and their cumulated life span. The idea of tossing anything feels like tossing them.

You know you’re a crazy pet mom when you inadvertently handle a super spicy jalapeño that you vigorously wash your hands, dry them, and then tentatively taste your fingertips to be positive, then wash them again before getting near your furry friends so the capsaicin doesn’t transfer to them.

I piece by piece gave up my life for my family and now I don’t know what to do with what’s left. I’m so sad, scared, lost, and tired.

My mom has entered hospice and people keep asking me how I’m doing and I have at least a dozen different answers and they’re all equally true. I just miss my mom and dad.
