Bronx, NY
It’s been a rough few years for street safety and transit/bike advocates in NYC. Very excited for next year.

On Veterans Day, we honor those who served and commit to serving them in return — not just in words, but in actions. Affordability and a real commitment to mental health are essential to ensure that every veteran can build a future here in New York City.

One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.

Northstar was doomed from the start. It should be used as a lesson in what not to do when building out commuter rail. It was half-assed from the start and in response to low ridership from half-assing it they made it worse by constantly cutting frequency, guaranteeing its demise.

Schumer isn't afraid of Dem voters. People can yell *primary* all they want as the Federal government becomes more fascist over time. There is no organized movement against the Democratic party. There's the fascists and their enablers (the Democratic party). Perhaps this would be the final straw.

It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.

I say this in good faith: when you primarily walk or bike as transportation you encounter motorists multiple times a day who have no regard for other people or for the responsibility of safely operating a motor vehicle. It very quickly colors your perception of motorists for the worse.

declare bankruptcy, the bank eats it and sorts it out and someone will buy it at a corrected valuation. That's the risk of real estate. Why are we, as a city policy, socializing investment losses from people's bad investments?

What really stuck with me after reading “Movement” was that the politicians who worked hard to dismantle the NYC trolley system (which was still popular) in the 1930s promised that the bus system would be an upgrade over it. Then they nickel-and-dimed the buses for decades.
