Heads up! We’re about to make some shifts to Playdate’s production — no, none to Playdate itself — which means a factory pause. Soon, Playdate will be temporarily "sold out”. Once we're back up, more stock will start to arrive later this year. But if you want a Playdate soon… now's the time to buy!

Europe is warming at a rate that’s more than double the pace of warming worldwide since the mid-1990s, due to melting Arctic sea ice, reduced pollution-related aerosols, and less snow cover. These changes are also altering weather patterns, leading to more frequent and intense heat waves.

UN inquiry finds Israel deliberately targeted Gaza children, amounting to genocide
Commission of inquiry says the killing of at least 20,179 children since October 2023 was part of a strategy to destroy the Palestinian group in Gaza. Israel rejected the report as a libellous sham.

Really cool (and somewhat freighting) work on Gen AI use and highschool performance in China. Homework Scores rocket up, time spend doing homework collapses, then predictably exam scores are way down. Results show bimodal response ~75% see scores drop, the other 20-25% keep doing the work.

Cannot fucking believe an external 4TB SSD drive that cost me $200 last year is now $1100. Had to check receipts to make sure. They’re really out there trying to keep you from having a PC, phone, or a gaming console so they can have hallucinating, polluting chatbots that drop bombs on kids’ schools.
