Even volunteers who wait to help people who are being released can't do anything if authorities are so determined to keep anyone from knowing what's going on.

If all could access needed services, there'd be no reason to separate us into categories in order to get needs met for an underserved portion of us. Individual needs vary widely across the spectrum, with overlap amongst people. We shouldn't have to compete based on where we are on the spectrum.

A key to helping folks who struggle with dysregulation is quiet calm VALIDATION Observe and acknowledge It can be as simple as observing “you’re having a hard time” or “you’re upset”. This doesn’t reinforce /condone behaviors and builds trust . Especially for unsolvable sensory issues . Be kind.

#AutChat Q4: Help from someone patient is good when I can get it. I read just fine, but having someone tell me questions + write down answers I give them makes filling out forms easier. Following a friend's shoes around a store means I can have my head down + maybe a hood up, to block out lights.

#AutChat Q3: I'm in my 50s. My biggest fears are embarrassment + social stigma. I'm out of practice masking. I don't think I'll ever be able to do it again, the way I used to, now that I've been isolated so long. I manage at home, w/help when needed. It's been unappealing to go out much anymore.

Nobody talks about it, but physically and mentally disabled people are losing access to community through internet ID laws and real life ugly laws and are at extreme risk. I know there is a lot happening but please don't forget about disabled people.

Disabled people are already some of the most isolated people, we cannot abandon them!

This problem hasn't gone away, so neither will my posts about it, nor my signal boosting of those who speak from firsthand experience about having to live directly with this increased level of threat. If you care about justice, how can you ignore this?

If you care at all about spirituality, peace, love, or just plain treating people as people instead of as objects and spectacles, please have enough respect for non-speaking Autistics not to put words in their mouths or claim they're sending psychic thoughts to your head.
