Yup. I have been recipient of essays in the AI era. No doubt there will come a time when I'm fooling myself in thinking that there is an obvious, night-and-day, recognize-it-in-five-seconds diff between AI essay and a "real" one. But so far, when I've looked into it, those that seemed fake, were.

"American Sphinx" was the title of an award-winning book on Jefferson. Means what you want it to mean.
