Rockers (and Mockers), help me out with your wisdom please. Songs that have the rising "ah, ah, ah, etc." like "Twist and Shout" include: "Let's Dance" "I Love L.A." "Footloose" Can you all think of similar?

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

November was a binary choice. You can pretend else, but the fact is Gaza and the Palestinian future is now more vulnerable, not less. It's why Netanyahu resisted a ceasefire and hostage release until after the election. He wanted Trump. He got him. The Palestinians will lose.

Rachel Maddow is right. Tim Walz is right. We need to keep the pressure on high on this administration. We need to hold the line. When we do both, they cave every single time.

150-200 cables are damaged each year, 15% (7-43) by anchors. If we assume Baltic maritime activity is 5% of the global total (likely way too high) Baltic Sea ought to see 1.5 incidents per year. 2023 & 2024 averaged at 6 breaks annually, 4 x higher. Map, visual aid for eyeballing 5%.

SIMONE, the children's book I did with artist Minnie Phan, connects climate refugees to other refugees, and climate disaster to other disasters like racism. We need a global imagination and local stories, to see how we all are connected through climate catastrophe.

[In solemn Herzog tones] Observe the endless suffering of these cartoon beings. The duck is shot point-blank—yet he endures. The coyote is pulverized by anvils — yet he persists. Their immortality mocks the human condition, stripping life of meaning. In this perpetual loop, death is but a punchline

Yup. I have been recipient of essays in the AI era. No doubt there will come a time when I'm fooling myself in thinking that there is an obvious, night-and-day, recognize-it-in-five-seconds diff between AI essay and a "real" one. But so far, when I've looked into it, those that seemed fake, were.
