I was having a good conversation with my buddy about "server uptime" and he brought up the fact that having 300+ days of uptime USED to be something to brag about. Now we deal with CVEs almost daily. I'm interested to hear everyone else's thoughts as someone that manages hundreds of servers.

I guess my ISP is ahead of the curve and assigned an IPv6 subnet which my network hardware gladly accepted. Only 10 more years before everyone else adopts it.

My really good local meteorologist is on vacation and still uploading videos from his hotel room, so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. But the thumbnail on his latest YT video is clearly AI because the maps shows the great northern city of MILWAUPOLIS. (Also, MASHVILLE TN)

GR2Analyst / GRLevel3 / GIS users: I built the OSM 2025 roads into individual shapefiles either by state or by NEXRAD radar site. The newest available I had seen prior was 2022 so this is likely an important update.

When someone has an aortic dissection, there is a 50% chance of them passing before they even make it to the hospital. I knew the signs and still nearly succumbed to this 2 years ago after making it to the hospital. Please donate to the John Ritter Foundation!

Cancelling the next PAR R&D phase is nonsensical. PAR technology is our best candidate to replace our aging fleet of WSR-88Ds. Weather radar is one of the most lifesaving and highest-ROI technologies our govโt has ever supported. Scrapping next gen radar is pound-foolish w/o the penny-wise part.

For those wondering why their favorite apps Super-Resolution data is still working, that's because it's generated from Level 2 data which is working fine.
@radarscope.app
and
@allisonhouse.com
both generate their own Super-Resolution data separate from the NWS' Level 3.

Another day, another AI-generated radar application where the developer needs my help because they didn't a) ask permission b) request documentation and c) know what in the world they were even doing. Bonus points to the "developer" for using AI to write the support ticket.

First it was noticeable that AWS was having issues (Twitch). No status update. Then, GCP was having issues (Discord). No status update. Now Cloudflare reports issues? What in the world is going on here? Was it CF all along? Why can't I load my GCP Console if it's only CF? Downdetector having a day.

Suddenly everyone believes that they're able to write a better weather app than those that are already out there. I'm all for innovation but when you come to me asking for my weather data for some AI-written slop and don't even know how to program, neither of us are going to have a good time.
