Light & Dark for this week's
#ShowMeYourKnits
🧶 Light - is this a smart colour for gloves? That remains to be seen but I do love the way they look, and they are warm 🤍 Dark(-ish) - second time I knitted the Sophie Hood, took me ages, not a fan 🖤 Happy solstice! 🌞❄️

Just in time for Pride, we have news about the notorious "pink planet," a billion year-old gas supergiant that's 57 light years from Earth. Turns out that this old, pink planet is extremely salty, which feels relatable.

Dress, Nebraska USA, 1902 I'm light on details here - can't even tell the fabric! A simultaneously muted and extravagant dress. Extraordinary decorative detailing, but its just so dark! In bright sunlight I reckon it would be a sight to behold.

It's World Swift Day! ❤️ Swifts raise their chicks high in eaves or nestboxes, returning to the same site year after year. When the young fledge, they launch into open air... & just keep going! They’ll remain airborne for the next two or three years, until it’s time to breed themselves.

A lot of attention is paid to craft traditions in Western Europe and North America, such as handsewn Hermes leather goods and bespoke Savile Row suits. But the uneven focus leads some to believe that things made outside of these places are low quality. This is not true. 🧵

There are no “legitimate concerns” about trans people. There aren’t any about women’s safety or fairness in sports or kids being kids or fucking toilets. If there were you’d have heard of them before 2018. I am a cis white woman so you have to listen to me or I’ll cry.

This is the "I love cat" Nagoya Obi designed by the Japanese brand Highcalory Otome. The clever design is inspired by the CHOKO Nekomimi (cat ear) folding style. When tied correctly, the folds of the knot form the realistic ears of a large black cat face resting across the back.
