Never mind it’s really weird and shitty to make a tweet actively hoping that a Zionist gets cast in what will probably be a major role just to further your side of a ship war. Fandom isn’t activism.

Most of the people upset about the tweet are pro-Palestine and believes like I do that we can support them without resorting to other forms of bigotry.

There has been a mass move on Twitter to reframe the backlash against this tweet as “these people are only upset because they’re secret Zionists or racists” to distract from the fact that ableist language was used.

Also when you consider that parsing “Neanderthal features” in people has strong roots in eugenics, the fact that their main defender has an antisemetic dogwhistle in their twitter bio paints a very ugly picture.

Comparing very real disabilities people have and equating them with Zionism is not okay, full stop. Continually doubling down to claim that’s not what you meant instead of apologizing for using ableist language reinforces that they do not care about their harm to disabled people.

It’s very disheartening as someone who ships and is active in the haladriel community to see someone who has repeatedly used ableist and queerphobic language to prop up the ship with no regard to the real people this hurts.
