The other part is that there’s tons of cascading problems that require systemic solutions, most notably, getting people economic support who haven’t been able to work for the past two (or more) months because the federal government was trying to ethnically cleanse them. Rent is due this week.

One of the kind of fucked up parts of the ICE occupation here is that a lot of folks want to believe it’s over, and the media seems to tell us it’s over, but folks on the ground are still seeing tons of activity and vulnerable people are still (rightfully) terrified to go outside. We can’t stop yet.

I think this sport was inspired by what parents do to teach their kids how to ski: definitely hike up/ down some hills with skis on, then run up a flight of stairs or two, there might be a fun ski jump in there, wearing a backpack full of kids snacks. All while lugging a kiddo on skis 🎿

If ICE and CBP don't want to be called secret police, then don't wear masks.    If they don't want to be accused of kidnapping, then don't drag people out of cars & houses without warrants.   And if they don't want to be accused of being lawless, then start following the law.

I spent 5 years at OPRE. Its work is highly rigorous, and staff draw conclusions carefully. And its work illuminates. One project showed that common assumptions about the relationship between TANF and SSI were simply not borne out in data. And now OPRE is being gutted. An attack on knowledge.
