Letâs be clear, because I see a lot of people glossing over this. These allegations are of domestic abuse and physical violence. You could get an order of protection based on these allegations. Domestic abuse isnât about âhitting,â itâs about using violence and coercion to control your partner.

More than two dozen people arrived to face federal agents in five different unmarked vehicles with aftermarket emergency lights. One agent had a Jerusalem cross sticker on the back of his phone, a Christian symbol dating to the Crusades that more recently has been associated with white supremacy.

This morning federal agents hit a womanâs vehicle while chasing and eventually detaining a man, later using a taser on him while pointing tasers and pepper spray at bystanders at Lawrence/Kedzie in Albany Park. Story to come via

Don't know or really care if it's "feasible" but I sure would love if this man were the mayor. (Very happy to have him as my state senator though!)

We just learned last week that Kat was never truly indicted. The grand jury in Chicago returned a no true bill. Prosecutors then had to tell anyone who didn't want an indictment to leave and cajole someone in the hallway until they returned an indictment. Please, go to jury duty and raise hell.

The thing about âBluesky is a bubbleâ takes is that they start with the false assumption that social media is our job or some sort of responsibility. This isnât my job. Itâs probably not yours, either. Itâs not our responsibility to ruin our days on a Nazi hellsite or to talk to dummies here.

there was a 5-year phase out plan, which didnât even last 3 years before restaurant owners tried to end it. seems incredibly naive to believe delaying another two years is going to change anything other than giving owners a more friendly mayor to end it before it goes into full effect.

Now Chicago Police are shutting down the Expressway without advanced notice? How many people will miss flights because of this? This is ridiculous. Seems unlikely that any public official will have the courage to speak up to criticize a police funeral. The worst parts of our system laid bare.

Class in the US is entirely a matter of aesthetics now. Rich suburban kids are âcountryâ. Beard Dudes who look like they love IPAs are âworking class.â Teachers who make $32,000 a year but have to dress up sort of nice in JCPenney clothes are âelitesâ. None of these words mean anything anymore.

You guys have fun arguing about data centers today, but make sure you understand that Googleâs explicit, official plan to deal with the fact that the entire US grid cannot meet the electricity demands of these things is to put a miniature nuclear reactor in every one of them by 2030.

In Seattle's Pike Place Market, vendors claimed that removing cars would cripple them. Nope. Sales actually rose. Remember: Studies show that biz owners consistently exaggerate how many customers drive and undercount those who walk, bike, or ride transit. Info:

Pike Place Market Pedestrianization Pilot Boosts Sales and Visits

Part of pushing back against car culture, driverless or otherwise, is pushing back against the idea that everyone has a right to be dropped off directly in front of their destination.
