This isn’t gaffe level incompetence; it’s a fundamental inability to distinguish aggressor from victim. No country should ever be represented like this. Future textbooks won’t struggle with this moment. 👇

It remains unclear, but if Trump told MTG "my friends will get hurt" by the release of the Epstein files, that sounds a heck of a lot like he's protecting pedophiles and gives all the more reason for them to release the unredacted files (minus victims' names) so the truth may finally be known.

There's no oscillation. A program designed to force a white supremacist society to include people who are being unnaturally restricted is not discriminatory, and is good. White christian conservatives wouldn't be able to handle actual discrimination. They can't even handle equality. Weak.

Russia chose to grant Snowden protection and citizenship, and his continued presence there has served Russia's interests. A U.S. pardon would retroactively legitimize those decisions at America’s expense.#holdfast

He didn’t do that. Newsweek reported on everything Snowden revealed legally via real journalism. ES betrayed his country, broke the law all for an adversary & chose to become a puppet for Putin. There were whistle blowers laws/processes in place “if” he actually wanted to do it legally; he did not!

None of them have ever done any such thing. I think what they object to is that other white people have started talking publicly about how whiteness as a concept creates inequality, and they feel the social pressure that truth creates, which they experience exclusively in terms of blame management.

I’m honestly less worried about the rise of the goosestepping “Trump Derangement Syndrome” people flying twenty Trump flags on their front lawn (Easy to spot) vs “soft-MAGA” who are uninterested in politics, paying no attention at all, who think it doesn’t affect them (insidious creeping fascism)

They aren’t really aware of the Epstein Files. You can tell them about something that’s in them and they’ll have forgotten all about it by the next day. It just doesn’t register as important to them. Political apathy / disengagement is a huge driver of what I’ve come to call “soft-MAGA”

I’m outright telling them they’re identical to MAGA now. They deny it and want to “change the subject”. But I’m not letting them run away from accountability anymore and they characterise this as me “having a breakdown” simply because I’m antiracist, I’m a feminist, im antifascist and antiwar.

And when confronted for their casual extremism; they try to paint any shred of accountability as “the real extremism” It didn’t used to be this bad but they’re not very resistant to obvious disinformation, and have gotten so much worse over time. I cracked it at them recently. Had enough.
