The 27 year old woman who was killed in Cork yesterday was cycling on a 50kph street in an urban area. The default 30kph limit promised by the govt may not have saved her life but it will save lives in the future. We can't allow them to renege on that promise.

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people. Sound efficient? HT

Maybe it's just us, but removing one of the deterrents to dangerous driving behaviour doesn't sound like a great idea for a body charged with making the roads safer. How about a fine, penalty points AND a speed awareness course?
