sad to hear (JAKE is great!) but so goes the world of literary journals. there are a handful with institutional support and/or mysterious money (tho fewer & fewer of even those), otherwise the lifespan is more often than not shorter than that of a large dog. love them similarly when they're around.

It's a tough time out there to be a lit mag, even if you're as kickass as JAKE. Treat yourself to some of the awesomeness before they go ungentle into that good night! They made a home for a story about a sad anarchist meeting Alien Jesus. They are beauty. Au revoir, l'ami.

I will be forever grateful to @publishedbyjake.bsky.social for publishing my CNF chapbook. Running a little mag, whether online, in print or both, is a tremendous commitment so I understand where the team is coming from even as I'll miss the publication.

Too bad, Jake was/is amazing.

The literary world just got a little less weird. You will be missed.

It's always heartbreaking when a lit mag goes away, but it's also a reminder about how much human care and effort goes into making a space for art. Transience doesn't make something less beautiful.
