Finished this in 5 days, which is fast for me. So nice to find a good novel at the end of a year in which I had little time to read. And it inspired me to write 2 new micros and revise 2 older ones. Fuel for this creaky old writing machine I guess 🙂

I worked for many weeks on this story, playing with the present continuous tense which, I think, locked my sad narrator into a particular time and place in a way that pleased my ear. Setting myself the “lofty” goal of trying to get at least one poem published in 2026. (Not including the prose poem I have forthcoming in elsewhere magazine.) I write a lot of poetry but don’t read enough poetry journals. Looking forward to all the reading and research this goal will require.
