Been watching through some Tobe Hooper movies I haven't seen in the first few days of the new year and I'm fond of MORTUARY. A horror movie for kids about the horrible creeping rot of small town America. SALEM'S LOT is about the same thing & so is POLTERGEIST & TEXAS CHAINSAW & oh you get the idea

This story only gets into it partially, but Village Roadshow produced a ton of intellectual property, and then Warner Bros basically shut them out of their own IP. The lawsuit is on going but the damage is done: WB killed one of the top production companies in major filmmaking.

RIP Linda Williams. we've lost an intellectual giant whose debts to film studies & pornography studies can never be repaid. i'm grateful that she got her flowers before she passed, with a symposium & special issue honouring her work in recent years. long may her writing be taught in our classrooms.
