Great to be home. This is a phrase that I say often. But when you get to go home after a heavy surgery a day earlier than planned due to fast healing, great health care, and big family/friend support it means more.

Lesson from the hospital bed: I hate the trope that people get rich because they work so hard. The housekeeper here does seemingly endless difficult, meticulous, and pretty gross work. And went out of his way to help me and improve my care. This is his 2nd job.

Lesson from hospital bed: the nurses I see are amazingly skilled and caring people. There are so many rotten people out there (especially on the internet—not you, of course). I am inspired to attempt to be as good as they are.

We need to figure out how to design a study, post the methods, and place the results on a prediction market so folks gamble on results and have some of the money return to the science team. Or more likely, ignore or encourage grad student/post-doc insider trading. Nerd gamblers FTW.

That’s what happens when you destroy the greatest research infrastructure in the world & promote pseudoscience. An unfun fact: The US now has no confirmed CDC director, no FDA commissioner, no Surgeon General. Our NIH director is a laptop MD. China is spending more on R&D than we are. 🧪

I see my name attached to citations of papers I did not write. Should I write those papers now? And, of course, they would be accepted because they were already published. Academic inception.

Huh. Went to watch the Victoire play in their decisive playoff game only to find out that the game has been postponed. Many players on Montreal have become ill so they postponed for safety reasons. (Not hantavirus). Strange. Get well soon.

Working very hard on being an adult. Accountants, bankers, lawyers, unsubscribing to all sorts of things that waste money, physiotherapy, training, cleaning, home repair, meditation coaches, and of course, medical stuff. Exhausting, but significant stress reduction as a result.
