*this*. there is no end to the tabloids' and fascists' demands because they have nothing other than those demands -- there is no "program" and no "opinion" other than rage. The only end is the one put to it by reasonable people while there is still a chance.

Feeling offended by The NY Times Spelling Bee puzzle this morning. It claims Pavlovian is not a word. While based on a name, it is a word on its own.

Dems before the election, when they want your vote, fight to defend healthcare. Dems after winning big in the elections? Rolling over without any concessions.

Congress at 15% approval rating, eyeing single digits. With enough work they can get there.

They caved. With no concessions won. Quickly and quietly. On a Sunday. With a plan as to which less vulnerable senators would take the vote — less vulnerable meaning not up for reelection next year for many of them. Depressing. How do they expect to keep their base engaged?

Run for Something Anything. People should run for school boards and city councils. And some real people should be looking at primarying some senators.

Please @murray.senate.gov and @cantwell.senate.gov do not cave. Protect people. We have family members who depend on the ObamaCare exchanges. No one can afford what this will do. I am hoping staff monitor your accounts at times like this. Are y’all listening? We have voted for you before.

After election wins this week. After everyone understanding that Trump and republicans are responsible for this mess. After the cruelty of starving children and not paying people while have a f—ing Gatsby party. The democrats may cave and blow up their own base. Moderates need the base to win.

“People are blaming republicans for food prices and flight cancellations and health insurance costs and are furious about gilded ballrooms and Gatsby parties and the president is falling asleep on tv and is the most deeply unpopular president in history, time to cave” is a hell of an argument

Or, just a suggestion, we could pay people enough to enable them to buy a home.

@sanders.senate.gov and @warren.senate.gov and @markey.senate.gov should tell any Senator considering a cave that they'll happily host stadium stops with @aoc.bsky.social and any other rising star that wants to primary them in their districts if they can't hold the line for people's basic needs.

This is a good article. Fact checking and critical thinking aren’t enough. In an information war, you need to provide better more reality based narratives.

Although I’m being snarky, there is a serious point here. Which voices does The NY Times and other mainstream media choose to elevate? This is part of the feedback loop from the general public to the elites and media and politics. Conservatives use the feedback loop effectively.

I understand there is an insider’s explanation of this. And honestly, I don’t care. Even if there is some good procedural reasoning, the outcome is immoral.

My understanding is that the Trump DoJ argued the poor children aren’t real people anyway.

President appeals to the Supreme Court to allow him to starve children. He argues that they should go to work in the coal mines for their gruel. Court will clearly take this concern seriously since Trump will be harmed by children being fed and there will be no harm to the children who starve.

Two opinion pieces in @nytimes.com today. One on Pelosi and her ability to recognize the moment and set aside her own ego. She’s always been able to get things done and really hasn’t needed to make everything about her. The other on Cuomo and good riddance. His ego was part of the problem.
