I found myself stuck in central London yesterday. The level of emboldened hatred surrounding me was repellent and deeply upsetting. On the tube people got off at King’s Cross, presumably for trains home. And I realised there’s only one type of person I wanted to go back where they came from.

Watching Twin Peaks on DVD and always delighted by how keen the menu is to push the Log Lady intros on you. Like three full times before the episode. ‘Did you want the log lady intro? No? Well what about now? Or now? How about now?’

There’s a lot to love in Bookish but my favourite thing is possibly that each story is told as two fifty minute episodes with a cliffhanger. Growing up with the TV versions of Marple, Campion and Lord Peter Wimsey I am convinced that this is the perfect format for a classic style whodunnit.

Following on from my previous post - here’s a comparison of the respective scenes from Drop Dead Fred and Absurd Person Singular.

Started watching Drop Dead Fred with some kids and was quite surprised to see some dialogue out of Alan Ayckbourn’s Absurd Person Singular in it. Seemingly lifted almost wholesale.

I’ve always felt the Ewoks are the perfect thing to stop the Empire - a threat so weak and small of course they’re going to be overlooked. Now I’ve finished Andor it’s like Luke and Han are the Ewoks.

James Bond usually has a different director each time, so I don't see it being a cause for panic or celebration. What those films need are some new writers. (And to hire them before shooting starts).

The show has often excelled when required to do explore ideas with small resources. And it’d be great to keep it going as a way of letting new British talent and varied voices try things out, without the pressure that comes with being a mega show.
