Trauma reactions are extremely nonlinear. Certain sounds may suddenly bother you. You may feel dissociated and/or hyperreactive to sensory input. Your memory may be working more slowly. You may get hyperfocused on something. These are all normal reactions and don't beat yourself for any of them.

Sexual assault often causes people to have some form of post-traumatic stress disorder, and this is literally a change to how your brain operates. You develop pathways through which you process information that's emotionally difficult. Today's news may induce a trauma reaction.
