I am BEGGING the state of Oregon to realize that funding TriMet helps downtown recovery. It’s not just transit bringing folks to downtown, it’s also the fact that union TriMet employees make decent wages and those dollars get directly put back into small businesses in our city.

Interesting contrast between Spanish and Norwegian land use patterns. In Spain, you see fairly uniform medium/high density with well-defined edges, while in Norway most places are a mix of detached houses and low-rise apartments.

Barcelona gets more attention, but Valencia has fantastic urbanism too. Tons of pedestrian streets, excellent bus and metro transit, and lots of separated bike lanes. It's interesting to see mid- to high-rise apts as the dominant housing typology even in outlying areas.

Contra to PCEF's founding model, I do think transportation decarbonization is going to have to be led by the City and TriMet since they control that infrastructure most directly. Shifting mode share for all trips to walking/rolling/and transit has to be priority #1 in that regard.

i generally find government agencies pointing fingers at other agencies to be petty / a bad look, but kudos to TriMet for being willing to make explicit that state legislators are the ones whose inaction led to the service cuts the agency is about to enact.
