The problem with sewing is that I’m constantly getting project ideas. Often ones that are well in advance of my current actual ability. Or unsuited to my potato-shaped physique. Or both.

I wonder … if you starched stretch fabric and ironed it flat, would that stop it stretching while you sew? And then you could wash the starch out afterwards.

The shop I work at is in a strip mall next door to an evangelical church. They’re regularly dangerously over capacity, take up all the car parks (and try to prevent non-church-goers from using the car park on Sundays), their ministers park in the disabled car parks because they’re the closest.

I’m watching a video of the restoration of a 1923 mechanical typewriter and iunno. It does not spark as much joy as the Singer restoration. The typewriter doesn’t feel like an elegant and reliable tool from a bygone age, it has too many flimsy little leggy parts. Like a centipede.

I washed my skirt and hung it out to dry three hours ago and it’s already dry. It is eight PM. That’s how hot it is. 🥵

I just watched a video of a restoration of a vintage 1894 hand-cranked Singer sewing machine. I absolutely do not need one, I like having things like “the ability to reverse” and “more than one stitch”. But god, what a beautiful, magnificent machine. Is this how classic car dudes feel?

Today I have: - been across town looking for specific pottery supplies (neither place had them 😿) - sewed a book bag - sewed the waistband on my skirt - bought groceries - cooked a delicious curry
