I called both my Senators and left a message saying if they didn’t immediately call publicly and powerfully to replace Schumer as leader I will assume they wanted this surrender regardless of how they voted.

If Chris Murphy or other Dem Senator doesn’t immediately challenge Schumer, then they’re all in on it.

Note: according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, the US government will pay $138 billion this year on ACA subsidies. The US population is 347 million. If Trump sends that money to citizens to pay for their own doctors and surgeries and pills, that works out to $397.70 per person.

The fact a *single* Amazon full-time employee requires SNAP benefits should be a crime. The fact Amazon is the largest employer of SNAP recipients is a disgrace. Jeff Bezos shouldnt be that rich; he should be in jail.

Refusing to be numb is a radical act. Caring about the earth while they drill it. Caring about strangers while they deport them. Caring about truth while they erase it. You’re not ‘too sensitive.’ Don’t let them make you be ashamed of your empathy and humanity. You’re still human. Stay that way.

Give to your local food bank. Build mutual aid wherever and however you can. If we’re going to make something better it’s going to depend on reinvigorating a sense of interconnectedness. We’re all in this together and the fight depends on recognizing that.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP. Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP. The people who need help are not the problem. It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

I pay my taxes as a member of society with the express understanding that the money goes to the common good. To create social safety nets for my fellow people and myself, if the need ever arises. If my taxes stop doing this we need to have a conversation about my still paying them.

SNAP is not the reason your taxes are high. SNAP recipients don’t need to “just go get a job”. Most of them work. The rest are disabled, elderly, children or caregivers. People need & deserve assistance Your taxes fund wars and tax cuts for the ultra rich Be mad about that
