If a working journalist cannot say that something true happened solely because it reflects badly on the subject, their publication has no interest in truth.

This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

These are calls for mass political violence, against all Democrats. They openly call for the bombing of "Democrat" cities and for the jailing or killing of Democratic politicians. They are from some of the most influential voices in right-wing politics. Will anyone say anything?

Political violence (or something even more sinister depending on whether one of the conspiracy theories floating around isn’t only theoretical) is always wrong. Two wrongs don’t make a right. A terrible person was a victim of a terrible crime and I have no idea why that’s hard to say for many.
