Certainly these are times that have been a solvent for pro-social norms. With those norms eroded, people with no intrinsic motivation towards decency are more inclined to engage in hateful and harmful behavior, because that behavior is currently hyper-incentivized, especially in internet media

The falling away of the feigning of decency is one of the most dramatic changes in American elite culture in the last decade. It's ubiquitous, and explains so much of our collapse, but happily it's not universal.

They've offloaded pretty much ALL the work they used to pay employees to do onto the customer instead. We have to have specialist knowledge, understand market value, evaluate competitive product, learn price/sale cadence, figure out seasonality, learn stock layouts, and even ring up our purchases.
