Herculaneum today. I might like it more than Pompeii. Yes, Pompeii is larger and flashier but for some reason Herculaneum was more my thing. Absolutely love seeing traces of wood in the buildings and the furniture in the museum. Some highlights: 🏺

Maybe I'm oversensitive around this topic but it kind of shocks me how nonchalantly people treated the casts of the dead of Pompeii and the human remains in the boathouse in Herculaneum. Many visitors seem so detached from the fact that they are looking at human beings. 🏺

Today on the Naples vacation plan: Pompeii! Apart from some public transport hickups I had the best day. Obvious highlights: The house of the Vetii, the house of the Faun, murals everywhere. Less obvious highlights: The small things. Wheel ruts, pottery used as building material, cats. 🏺
