Epic boss Tim Sweeney is right to call genAI a political topic - it's a mechanism of class war
Epic's Tim Sweeney has challenged a review of Arc Raiders that marked the game down for its generative AI elements, calling genAI a politicised subject.

I REALLY just wanna go to a flat earther convention and like; set up a debate between a disk-earther and a square-earther and just watch them duke it out as I ask unrelated questions like "Which continents are close to the edge?" "How thick is it?" "Do tornadoes wrap around like in Asteroids?"

Begging on my hands and knees for the day that modern video games move past this "temporal smearing" approach to rendering tech. I gotta hold the camera still for 1-2 seconds to allow the TAA / RTGI / SSR to fully settle. I would much rather have fully rendered frames than noisy smeared garbage!

If anyone out there knows of any good resources for learning how to create good topology / edge-flow for a 3D sculpt, please bestow! I am searching far and wide and coming up with loads of "draw the rest of the owl"-type videos / images. I am mainly struggling with connecting arms to shoulders.

Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

Maybe it's just me, but I think multi-billion-dollar corporations shouldn't be allowed to settle a case with 1% their net worth the moment it doesn't seem to be going their way. Especially when a guilty verdict would have nearly put them out of business for *checks notes* "pirating 7 million books".

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

I’ve gotten choked up reading this Superman page so many times over the years. Supes is always at his best and most heroic when he’s being a role model for heroic deeds we’re all capable of.

tv static was liminal time in media. it held a weird power bc it indicated that “there was something here, but it’s gone now” or “there is nothing here… yet.” the backrooms wield the same ambiguous menace of an empty stage, but now we get ads when we pause a video. god forbid our minds wander

My absolute favorite Tom & Jerry episode (I think I first saw it when I was 8). When they hook up the compressor leads and everything turns to ice- my brain just lit up. I had fully convinced myself that this was possible and that I must try to do it someday.

Many, many years ago, animator Adam Brown brought motion to Bill Watterson’s classic Calvin & Hobbes dance strip. We’ll never see an official cartoon, and rightly so, but every time I see this, it just makes me want to pull out my dog-eared collections and re-read the whole lot. Try it. You need it.

So at the start of Half-Life: Blue Shift there's this really cool train crash. I had a discussion about this in a gamedev server where we were trying to determine how this was done. There's nothing in the game files to suggest it was an animated model, so I decompiled the map to check it out and...
