Back to what I said before. The best channel strip is a great recording. I’m recording trumpet through a SonicDune preamp into an RME UCX II. The sound is so good that I’m using zero plugins on the channel. Nothing at all. I only send it to a long reverb because I need that effect.

Friend: what’s the best all in one vocal strip VST? Me: A good recording. If you’re trying to save a vocal with plugins, take is bad. Record it again. No strip will rescue a crap recording. Chain is simple. An A class preamp into a pro interface. After that is just cleanup, color, and having fun.

Here is a great vocal chain for keeping vocals natural and breathy. 1. clipper

Some producers put a light compressor first in chain on vocals. Not wrong, but I think a clipper does a better job catching peaks. Then I finish with an LA2A or 1176 as a last thing in the chain, depending on the vocal.

I get why iLok exists, but when it starts glitching and I don’t realize it’s the problem, it turns into a nightmare. I end up deleting services, reinstalling everything from Neural DSP, UAD, Waves and a ton of other plugins, only to discover at the end that iLok was the thing bugging out.

Another way to tell if your favorite artist is using AI: they suddenly stop releasing on Bandcamp while all their older tracks are still there. Why? Bandcamp has started removing AI content. So if a track shows up on Spotify but not on Bandcamp, odds are it’s AI generated.

Real experimental music has a clear idea and purpose. Most “experimental” stuff is just random noise pretending to be deep. So, long story short, you have experimental snd underdeveloped thinking called experimental. Same goes for all art forms.

So they can feed you the same song over and over with the same melody, and you’ll never realize it’s basically the same thing. First, people don’t really listen to music anymore. Second, it’s been standardized so hard that the melody gets embedded in your brain.

Every time I say iPhone is the way to go, someone goes “bro use Android, iPhone is stupid” 😄 I bought my iPhone 12 mini in 2021. Still using it, still works great, and I’ll probably keep it for another 2–3 years or probably even longer. iPhones are just built to last.
