Happy Tuesday! There is a new chapter of my webcomic, Nothing Special, up today. If you like magical adventure, feeling bad for topiaries, and butt jokes.... that's an odd mix but I got you, boo. Maybe give it a read and a share?

Video: Videos Contradict Trump Administration Account of ICE Shooting in Minneapolis
An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from — not toward — a federal officer when he opened fire.

A lot of people enjoyed the wonky building I posted from my sketchbook yesterday. Happy to tell you that my sketchbooks are full of weird buildings. They’re one of my favorite things to doodle.

Yesterday, The Husband went to the dentist because his tooth hurt and they did a root canal right then and there. Same day. So he wins for the worst surprise of the week. Tough to top an emergency root canal.

A slow day in the office has been made slower due to Epi crawling into my lap and under the blanket I have around me. I have chosen the cat’s comfort over creating, as is the cartoonist way.

The Teen’s biology book has just been… sitting unmoved on one of the counters since school started in the fall. Beginning to worry that it’s never been touched or opened by, let’s say, the student in biology that lives here.

I went up north to see my mom for a few days and have returned home after stealing all her leftovers, a pan, some of her shoes and the cookies on the table. I am the Grinch robbing Christmas from Who-ville on my way out of there. (Hi mom. I left you your dog.)

Thirty years ago today, after a ten year odyssey, Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes ceased appearing in newspapers. D.D. Degg has a selection of a few of the articles and headlines from December 31, 1995.

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up. I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Day 28 of Things I Don't Usually Draw. back in high school and college I used to do a lot of studies off artists I loved. Alphonse Mucha was always hovering in the top 10 of that list. I haven't done anything like that in a while so I thought I'd revisit it. Behold The Dance in all its glory.

Update update: I know I told my kids not to get me anything for Christmas but if one of them wraps up a coupon saying I can finally use that little pimple pop loop on that beacon blackhead on their nose I would be so thrilled.

Update: I wrapped up the bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo that’s been sitting on the landing for a few weeks waiting for someone to take it upstairs. I’m hoping this will lead to some renewed interest in someone taking it upstairs.

I don’t really eat meat anymore and, as the family cook (ha), my family suffers my whims. All they want for Christmas is a protein that’s not a bean. Nothing huge, they’re ecstatic I said I’d make chicken. Lesson: feed your kids enough soybeans and they will lower all fancy meal expectations.

I have a Christmas tradition that if there’s any wrapping paper left on the roll after getting through the actual presents, I start wrapping up the groceries and putting them under the tree for the kids until I use up the roll. Is it a board game? Is it a box of Larabars? Who knows!
