When in doubt, look at Mignola's work. Often the pages have perfect dynamics; they open in the first panel, come closest to the reader/intensify in the middle, and close-out in the last panel. He controls the page, it doesn't control him. If you don't 'get' Mike, there's nothing I can say to help.

Jack Kirby is someone I try to look at a lot now because of his incredible energy he gives his people. You can say whatever you want about his work, but I genuinely can't compare his energy to anyone else. Especially anyone of his era.
