Why aren't baby axolotls called axolittles?

Me and bf can't pinpoint when we started dating as it was a casual thing that slowly developed into a relationship. Instead we chose a date to celebrate our anniversary. Every year we both forget it, next year is the 10th and we'll probably both forget it again.
