When you buy into the idea that "porn is evil" then anything deemed porn becomes evil. We are so afraid of sex in this country that it is effectively a tool to control the masses. This is (part of) why sex education is so important. Sex should not be some kind of boogeyman.

This is such a bad read for many of us who made the move. Links are not deprioritized here. My readership has exploded since moving to Bluesky, and my mental health and work life balance has improved now that I’m not subject to constant death threats and brain rot that lives on twitter.

Precious is a perfect example of lead by example—and get paid to be yourself. I hadn't thought deep enough about WHY she resonates for me, until sitting down to write this profile for @sextechnchill.bsky.social. Then it hit me...

Michigan lawmakers have introduced a bill prohibiting the any "depiction or description" of trans people or trans existence online, including it in a bill banning "pornographic" material The bill would completely erase trans people online, equating them with porn.

We got here because the "War on Porn" was largely undefended, except by those in the trenches already. Across the country, states have been able to pass dozens of dubious age-verification mandates, the precursor to initiatives like this. This won't pass, but it moves the window.

We have been screaming about this for the past three years — sex workers, privacy advocates, tech journalists, sex educators, LGBTQ+ activists — only to be told that fighting AV was politically unpopular and we were being hysterical. That this would never affect LGBTQ+ people. Welp.
