Josh’s post is worth reading in its entirety. The points: 1) kill the filibuster 2) court reform 3) DC/PR statehood 4) clean up laws on presidential power 5) outlaw extreme gerrymandering These strike me as a really good starting point of foundational necessities.

This is utter nonsense. The status quo gives MAGA nimby councilmembers disproportionate power to block housing that benefits the entire city. I trust Zohran with the power to approve housing far more than Vickie Paladino. Vote YES on the pro-housing ballot initiatives

Fresh research confirming chain-of-address filtering is as powerful in Class A residential as the "flight-to-quality" Class A office phenomenon 👇 New housing supply lowers rents the most in *Class C old buildings*, not the rents in other new Class A buildings!

My contribution to this discourse as an urban historian is there is ample precedent for transit agencies being hamstrung by politicization of unusually low fares. The nickel subway fare was a political third rail forever. I wrote about it with MARTA’s ten cent bus fare in the ‘70s.
