The tenants banded together and organized with the Vancouver Tenants Union to fight their eviction - but many of their neighbours have been successfully evicted since Plan A bought the building. Plan A's owner even tried to sue them for defamation and complained about them speaking to media.

The company refuses to accept rent payments from Marie Weeks, because they claim she's not a "legitimate" tenant compared to her partner. They've done this with couples several times before - and when I asked about this, they gave me an inaccurate interpretation of the RTA.

Plan A called police against one tenant who they accused of stealing a valuable art collection. In fact, the tenant had taken the art for safekeeping. The tenant had to go all the way to the appeals court to prevent his eviction over this. The "art collection" in question:

People love to pretend like pastel QAnon and RFK and anti-vaxx moms are just a function of bored privilege and ignorance, but the reality is much more complex. These anti-medical birth movements cross class and race lines and exploit very real gendered trauma from medical sexism related to birth.

Please hear me when I say that 1) these anti-medical woo birth movements have been a primary feeder into anti-vaxx eugenic movements 2) they pre-date the age of social media 3) they exist because we have not addressed medical sexism and specifically obstetric violence

The policy as implemented is that death threats are allowed from some sources. Have the integrity to spell it out.

I honestly have no problem with such a policy, but if you can’t stomach enforcing it when it comes from prominent or powerful speakers, it’s inconsistent in the worst way.

…So I tried to capture the texture of moth wing scales & the speckled-ness of their colours using granulating pigments. & I tried to include a mix of brightly coloured moths and more subtle, camouflage species. Like the scalloped oak and nut-tree tussock (which is basically a tiny flying kitten)…

...& It was way trickier than I thought, TBH! I was trying to catch something of the colours & textures & fuzziness of species that visit my garden. But when you love moths? It's hard to feel anything you make is a good enuf representation! Also, no species is really one single colour…

I've been getting bombarded with merck ads in my phone apps claiming that HPV testing is replacing the pap for cervical cancer detection. To be clear, HPV is a predictor for cervical cancer. Testing for it does not detect cancer, just one of the primary risk factors.
